Wow so uhhh The Legend of Vox Machina definitely watched Netflix's Castlevania and liked it so much that they jammed it in to their show, consistent tone be dammed?
-
I feel like D&D + Comedy should be a relatively easy thing to accomplish for an animated show, print and comics pull it off with no issues. But this is like... what the 2nd or 3rd of these that is just unable to figure out how to put together a coherent show (at least thus far).
-
I am on episode 6 and it's like 4 different shows got jammed together in here and arguably 2 of them could be good (and one is Castlevania, which was also good) but its inability to focus feels more like an actual D&D game, instead of what it needs to be to be a good show.

I mean it is funny from the outside when you're watching someone play a D&D game and they're playing a different tone than the GM and the group sort of fights it out (in a fun way) on the table, but uhhh doesn't work so great for an entirely taking-itself-seriously TV show.

Looks good tho! But you can't really swing from terrible torture and sad innocent people getting hanged to lol jokes about the beer being gone to terrible bloody torture to lol big man eat everything.

I mean, maybe theoretically someone could but uhhhh they sure can't. And def not in a like... 10m sequence.
