            1. Ev's latest piece telegraphs that he fundamentally doesn't understand the business models he's trying to criticize, is "finding out" things the rest of us have known for years, and also hahahahaha if he thinks Medium is going to fill the role he describes. medium.com/@ev/the-rationalization-of-publishing-dc001d509de8

If news publishing is going to distinguish itself between providers enough to make a Netflix/Hulu/Etc... style system work, it will need to do so by providing in depth detailed complex interactive pieces and a unique design for each site to create brand loyalty...

Supporting that type of needed creativity is the exact thing that Medium is built to not just avoid, but prevent. Then there's the fact that however sketchy they were in the beginning they've 'pivoted' so many times that no one who provides quality content should trust them.

This is just one more example of Medium and Ev clearly coming into an industry thinking they have all the solutions without having done any research. Chronotope/925707267793735680

Medium talking about aligning money with product is ridiculous because their incentives are ludicrously far away from the interests of their user-base, another factor certain to lead to doom. Chronotope/874976696096751618

Medium is fundamentally incentivized to continually pivot to new business ideas at a rate that would likely extinguish any media business that thought to rely on them because their ecosystem rewards them with more funding for Moving Fast. Chronotope/874980140127748096

Anyway, if the media business does go in this direction, it will likely be subscription bundling. You subscribe to a publisher you trust and get web access to a bunch of other publishers non-exclusively. A model very unlike Netflix.
