          2. On the long view this is a good thing for legit publishers because they publish a lot less nearly white supremacist nonsense. Also it forces better brands safety techniques to develop and it hurts the most sketchy programmatic ad platforms.

        So yeah, I gotta disagree with the voices that say the advertiser boycott is bad for all media, because in a race to the bottom ecosystem of shitty ad tech advertiser boycotts are a push towards using clearly defined measures of quality.

    The alt right would not exist without low cpm publisher-agnostic programmatic advertising, which has always been a rush to low quality. Anything that pushes back on that force is a good thing in the long term.
