No defense of the subject profiled intended here, but CJR is clearly mocking the idea of gifs on the homepage like its a crazy/antiquated idea, yet a look at sites like Mail Online show cool/successful takes on just that.

Generally just saying: gifs are not that stupid an idea as they are painted in this article. There's a lot of other stuff in there way more worth criticizing.
