craignewmark emilybell mosseri _trustproject journethics Pretty sure Trust Project hasn't formalized all their structured data signals in a way that can be usefully parsed yet, which makes implementing any system based on those signals difficult. Also, current proposal has zero I can see to protect against fraudulent implementation.

craignewmark emilybell mosseri _trustproject journethics Frankly I'm continually wary of any of these systems that require additional technical lift but supply no built in protection against black hats (not that I'm sure what that would be) b/c every time we do something like this... The fake news sites manage to implement it faster

craignewmark emilybell mosseri _trustproject journethics No disrespect to the work done on The Trust Project, but frankly if a machine can auto generate those signals and apply metadata then this is just another arms race that fraudsters will win because their entire model involves quickly spinning up websites.

craignewmark emilybell mosseri _trustproject journethics Who and how is verifying the metadata is honestly applied? That it is accurate? That it isn't being duplicated from a legit site into a fraudulent one? What about domain skulduggery? What are the technical standards here?
