      1. So Bright was... Alright I guess? Arguably the worst part of it was Will Smith, but that might have more been 'as written' instead of his acting. It's a really cool world though with some interesting ideas that work best when it is at its least serious.

Like when it is trying to scream 'this is a race relations metaphor' it falls very very flat. They think that having Smith's character be racist makes it less off-putting, but it makes it more so.

But when it is embracing the fantasy stuff with an honest, sometimes inadvertently silly admiration I couldn't help but like it. The fantasy elements are just there, without lampshades, in a way most urban fantasy avoids.

It is best when acting like some little kid put Lord of the Rings and Cop show action figures together and is just playing with them. When it is being childish it can be a bit dumb, but fun.

Also the Orc lead is great and the orc makeup is fantastic. Really Bright is a Blade-level film that's taking itself way way too seriously.

I'm on board for the rumored sequel though. I'd watch chapter 2, especially if they feel the plot has resolved this dumb 'Will Smith is racist against Orcs' bit.
