    OwenGood byJoshuaDavis BenKuchera I agree and I disagree. There's a whole cottage industry of people who write for free who aren't professional writers. They should be compensated, but don't have an interest in perusing that. They are being taken advantage of, even if they don't feel that way.

      OwenGood byJoshuaDavis BenKuchera Lots of types of fans write for free, lots of people write without ever seeing it as a career. That doesn't mean they're not being exploited. But I have a hard time blaming them for their own exploitation.

        OwenGood byJoshuaDavis BenKuchera I don't really think that every single person who writes a thing is a capital-W-Writer. The system falls apart for everyone though when whole business models are built on it. The problem isn't people writing for free. The problem is corporate entities that make money off it.
