    irwin The idea is that if the player knows the exact outcome you want for them to work towards they won't pay attention or respect the game, much less learn anything.

      irwin They had a great example from a study some designers did around a game about conservation. Players were given water to drink in a cup. When goals of game (to teach conservation) were made more clear to the player, they were less likely to recycle the cup at the end of the night
