Millennials will pay for news, but will they pay for CNN, not so sure.
-
I think, especially under Trump, there's a social contract element to subscriptions & there's always been a keeping up with the Joneses part
-
But ~80% of CNN, for all its "Breaking News" titling, cannot make the argument of social good or originality.
-
With a few exceptions most of it is valueless to a time shifting watcher. I'd pay for streaming access to Reliable Sources, but what else?
-
The problem is uniqueness. What does CNN have that they do better than other subscription news? Make me hate Don Lemon? Not even that.
-
I mean, and I know the general consensus is the public doesn't care-but as a measure of quality, when did CNN last break a story?
-
And their web product is even worse in that regard. It's so much aggregation.
