Even now, in as post Gawker a state as it has ever been, the sites that once were Gawker remain my favorite place to read on the internet.
-

Other places are brave, smart, well-researched, filled with voice, driven by righteous anger & well written. Some may be better journalists
-

But no place manages to combine them all so skillfully and consistently as what is now known as what is now known as Gizmodo media.
-

In some ways many of the great success of this year have come more out of emulation of what Gawker was for *years*
-

Even among the multitude of articles about them post-Gawker, they're still not recognized enough.
-

& the remarkable thing about them is: as many a media startup is cribbing style from others, something makes Gawker impossible to replicate
-

			It fascinates me.
-

If there was any 1 single thing (there isn't) it might be: they publish the things that need to be published but that no one else ever would
-

But it isn't just that. We've seen other companies take all the same ingredients, put them in a similar pot and get a disaster.
-

As someone who obsesses over how media works, this never stops being of interest. But also, what a remarkable thing to read.
