I don't like Trump. That said: I wish we spent as much time criticizing why US is putting servicepeople in combat as over these calls.
-
Like we're at a point where Americans tend to perceive criticism of the taking of military actions as unpatriotic... So...
-
Many top flight media orgs will never investigate the necessity of taking military actions as throughly as these phone calls that result
-
Because perpetual warfare is somehow seen as the norm and criticizing of investigating it is biased somehow, which is BS.
-
Which is why we have through investigations of unnecessary defense spending, but little on "necessary" spending
-
No congressperson will ever get as visibly upset over the deployment of troops as they will over what happens after those troops are dead
-
And all sides are terribly complicit in this. For all the talk of respecting our troops, they sure don't do that when the troops are alive.
-
If they did, we wouldn't have so many homeless & sick veterans and we wouldn't deploy our military with so little comment.
-
In some ways week has been a prime ex of criticizing the president while still perpetuating the performance patriotism that got him elected.
-
The most exhausting weeks are the ones where it feels like the whole national apparatus is just treading water.
