      ShortFormErnie Why for-profit? Surely we can use our public libraries towards this? Perhaps donate to them instead of paying a sub to some private co?

    ShortFormErnie The problem I have with all these companies trying to be public squares is with a donation they could fund actual public squares.

      ShortFormErnie It's been a decade of tech and private companies trying to become our public squares, from B&N to Twitter, they've yet to really succeed.

        ShortFormErnie Their nature as private companies continues to be problematic. Profit motive doesn't work for the needs of a public square.
