So the latest version of Ghostery marks DoubleClick and Google Analytics as "slow and/or non-secure trackers" on multiple sites. Hmmm...
-
To be clear I like Ghostery's browser plugin a lot. I recommend it b/c it allows you to block shit ad tech while letting ads show...
-
But this is annoying because if many block those two trackers the site you are on will go bankrupt. Also, are they slow trackers?
-
Because almost every piece of ad tech loaded crawling, zombie-like, out of ads seems slower to me? Just sort of an irritating event.
-
But also expected. B/c as news continues to allow ad tech to wage war on users, our readers are being pushed to scorch the earth in response
-
It's pretty easy to chart where this is going. Publishers are going to make it so sites don't load unless users load up ad tech/tracking.
-
Mark that ^ prediction now, because I will gladly lay down a bet that this is coming in the next 5 years.
-
It's a terrible idea, but when has that stopped the media?
