And yeah: The tech media *is* complicit in promoting this thinking. It's a hard thing to build a startup, but it deserves our critique.

When is the last time you read a mainstream tech news piece about a startup that analyzed its business plan, or questioned its product?

It happens so rarely, and in part it's that quiet assumption that if sometime invested tens of millions than they must Know Something.
