If I was going to build my own Kickstarter it would be for server scale. Note: I have no idea how this would technically work.

But the idea is that if you want to use a service, you can use it until the amount in paying out to the AWS load-balancer runs out...

... then you get prompted to contribute to the account running the AWS cluster or face the service simply not working.

Any startup or app or whatnot can register to put their code on the system and get their own ServerKick (or whatever) account.

This both makes the economics of scale obvious to the user where it is usually occluded and assures interest matches funding.

And if a VC wanted to pour a bunch of money into it, we make it all very clear, you're paying for extra scale. Which is what you are.
