Here's a fun fact: It's basically been a decade since DC Comics made two sequential good business or PR decisions. Maybe more.
-
I mean, I'm thinking you can't even call it a train wreck anymore. DC Comics is beyond that now. They are into some weird nether realm.
-
Just one awful decision after another, coasting on good will while poking holes in the hull. Being a DC Comics fan in the modern age is like
-
You've assembled & launched a well-resourced mission to Mars & the minute you break orbit, Ground Control instructs you to dive into the sun
-
You're stuck in the episode of 30 Rock where Jack tries to tank NBC, only it is like Groundhog Day, but no one learns a lesson.
-
Learning to fly you drive the plane straight into the ground because you saw it on TV. When the instructor tries to stop it you punch him.
-
If you had to build an apartment building, only you kept building walls in front of exit doors and firing everyone who tells you to stop.
-
You kept failing law school over and over but return each year and completely refuse to attend any classes or take tests.
-
If you only parked your car by crashing it into a walls and you just kept buying new cars and crashing them instead of learning to park.
-
I mean, the scale and continual repetition of DC's failures at this point are so spectacular it is like they're run by the Bluth family.
-
And every few years someone shouts "There's always money in the X" and some DC exec drives out to X and just burns it to the ground.
-
At this point, DC Comic's biggest fear must be the audience that lets them cruse on goodwill will die out b/f they do something decent again
-
I hope someone does a documentary on WTF happened in DC Comics the last decade because it is mystifying.
-
How do you not only keep making bad decisions but also *not learn* from your mistakes and keep repeating them? And then make all new ones?
-
It's not like Yahoo or AOL where on the surface these could possibly be good choices and we have the benefit of hindsight now....
-
... it is continually and almost immediately evident that these are bad decisions in the moment DC Comics makes them.
-
They are so self-evidently bad decisions that DC has to occasionally out and out reverse them and admit they are bad decisions.
-
You know how bad a decision must be for a huge corporate entity to admit it and straight reverse it? Really bad.
-
It's so frustrating so so so frustrating. It wouldn't even take that much effort to make decent decisions.
-
DC Comics decision making is so bad it takes more money, time & effort to make the bad decisions than it would have to make good ones.
-
Watching DC Comics operate is like watching Prometheus volunteer daily to stay attached to the rock while the eagle pecks out his organs.
