Fun personal data: I've listened to 152,381 songs since 2006 with 22,042 unique tracks. So, I average 7 listens per song I discover.
-
I also have listened to 10,223 albums across 7,730 artists. That average doesn't even round to 2 albums per artist, which is interesting.
-
Also means an average of 3 tracks per artist. & average of 2 tracks per album. Averages aren't very representative of actual behavior here.
-
Also: avg of about 20 listens per artist; 15 per album.
-
Inaccurate narrative of avgs aside, the gen numerical story is likely true: I have low artist loyalty and don't listen to whole albums much.
-
I wish last.fm also broke down by genre. But remember my stats started in 2006. I wonder what pre-2006 would have looked like.
-
Info from: last.fm/user/Shade0/library. Probably says a lot about how format can dictate behavior. I listened to albums b/c that was the format

Freed from that format in the post-2006 era of digital music, it isn't a natural choice. For me at least.
