I'm increasingly convinced that Post was not intended to be a social platform, but a blogging platform. Then when Twitter started to implode they did a hasty pivot. That's the only way these architectural decisions make sense.

Part of the issue is also that OpenWeb, an ad platform where comments are basically an excuse to show you ads, may not be a particularly great piece of software. That would make sense since I've seen little that distinguishes it from the state of DISQUS >5 years ago.

Using it without ads, as Post is doing, is therefore even more baffling. I must assume it was an investor condition.
