Right, LinkedIn and Amazon power users pay for a service. Twitter users would pay to be *of* service. This is pretty weird if you think about it. Twitter is the only platform that would, instead of rewarding it's biggest and most impactful users with advanced tools and rev share like Twitch or YouTube, discourages them by putting those tools behind a paywall.Permalink On twitter.com

I mean, most of Twitter Blue is already deeply weird, you're basically paying to be a beta tester. I suspect most people who pay for it do so more out of support for Twitter, like a Patreon relationship, then out of genuine interest in the features.Permalink On twitter.com

Being verified isn't just some extra tools, it's Twitter acknowledging that it is real bad at moderation and asking verified users to basically moderate their own spheres to create spaces where their followers can thrive in discussions. Twitter needs these signals. It's *labor*.On twitter.com

Imagine using WordPress dot com & being told you have to pay to be able to moderate the comments on your own blog. + when you moderate your blog it propagates some moderation choices to comments across all WP sites.
