After a month I finally am getting access to the NYU Langone Health app (provided by... some random vendor). First they took my birth date down wrong. Then they joined my data (via SSN?) to a visit there from when I was 8. So they had the wrong birth year and the wrong address...
-
So then all medical, scheduling, prescription info, comms with the doctor, etc... were through the app and I couldn't get on the app because it didn't have the right info on it. So I social engineered my way to getting my own incorrect birth date (right outta Hackers yo)...
-
But the office hadn't gotten a way to issue corrections yet, so I had to call the app and give them my wrong birth year, but that's when I found out that they had the wrong address...
-
From my portfolio of (my own) historical info I was able to get them to acknowledge my personness but it turned out that I couldn't get access to the app still because now I needed an ID that matched the incorrect information to log in OR I needed it to correct the data remotely.
-
So I went back and forth a few times but the doctor's office finally got the right forms to be able to issue their own corrections and they could copy my Driver's Licence to scan in and prove I was me so they could correct the data...
-
I'm guessing b/c the medical office has SSN<>Driver's Licence but the app doesn't have that connection? Anyway they keep calling me to make sure that yet another incorrect piece of data needs to be corrected...
-
B/c of all this, I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon I showed up 5m late for figuring I wouldn't have to fill in a bunch of forms, but by the time sign in had gotten figured out it was 20m later and that apparently meant I missed my appointment and have to reschedule...
-
Lol and then the kicker is that the only way to reschedule the appointment, even though I was in the office, was through the app! So I gotta wait for their system to clear the changes and try to log on tomorrow! LOL ...
-
Anyway. I don't even want an app. Their shit isn't secure, none of this crap works properly, I don't trust Random Medical App Vendor Inc., I don't want it on my phone. Then they have the gall to ask if I'd like to sign in to future appts using a biometric "palm reader". No thanks

It's almost like SSNs are not real IDs and shouldn't be used for anything other than filing your taxes.
