I can't seem to find the report that documented this but A few years back I read Twitter admins blocked "BLM" from trending because otherwise it would have just been constantly in the trend bar and become a useless signal. I would argue that perhaps they should do the same here.Permalink On twitter.com

Like... would this happen for any other racial, ethnic or religious group and be allowed to scale in trending to almost 50k? Imagine if trends included "The Irish", "The Christians", "The Women", etc... you can imagine the even more offensive ones. It wouldn't.Permalink On twitter.com

And worse, it is only trending because it combines two words in this very specific dog whistle way. You wouldn't say "The Christians" because it doesn't have any real context that would get people to repeat it over and over. There is context with "The Jews" tho.
