        eric_seufert dmarti Ok! It's just that right now, as far as I can interpret your position, it's basically aligned with the EU laws in terms of scope and areas of required consent. I know plenty of people with that same exact position that generally get classified as privacy activists...

    eric_seufert dmarti The majority of privacy activists would be fine w/a world where the only targeting is broad group behavioral advertising generated only by those who hold the data in a first party context. Like that is literally the line that for 'surveillance' advertising for most.

      eric_seufert dmarti Your stance on opt-in in this thread puts you in a position of calling for a greater level of privacy regulation and borders than CCPA! I think most ad tech people would classify that position as privacy activist.

        eric_seufert dmarti Like if I was to define "banning surveillance capitalism" or to rely on most definitions I've read of "surveillance advertising" - ending individual tracking of users across multiple contexts in the way you describe would be what I mostly have seen as the definition.
