      ndhapple harrysiegel While MetroCard also has data, it's non-modern design and slow-to-resolve db means the threat for behavioral modification or detailed to-the-second targeted tracking is much lower. And the OMNY system is clearly set up to push people towards giving up data.

    ndhapple harrysiegel As to if the MetroCard system is on the edge of non-functionality or not... that's def outside my area of expertise... but the cost of OMNY isn't just going to modernizing it, it is also going towards these mechanisms of data collection that are unnecessary for riders.
