      eric_seufert alextcone I'm not sure a preference for a toaster I don't have to debug counts as nostalgia. And it's clear that many of these devices emit data, even if that data is fundamentally useless. Because the strategy is usually send as much data as possible, figure out how to use it later.

    eric_seufert alextcone In fact, one of the best things about the wave of privacy regulation is that it is forcing entities like smart device makers to rethink their policy of just sending everything, which is likely to create better products anyway.
