          I think advertising in general is a decent way to provide services and navigate through capitalism but detailed personalization? Why? Ads worked before personalized tracking. They can work without it. All personalization does is lie to advertisers and create sketchy DTCs.

        And it creates marginal revenue for greedy corporate entities and fraud sites that look to turn every blank space everywhere (digital and physical) into ads on top of existing revenue via subpar experience.

      Also, I've used internet-connected mobile devices since before the iPhone existed and have lots of my personal data available to advertisers and I can count the effective "personalized" ads I've actually seen on my hands. Maybe one hand.

      I use Foursquare/Swarm for goodness sake. I don't block ads because of my professional curiosity. If anyone would be getting excellent "personalized" ads it would be me.
