                1. The politicization of COVID has resulted in me becoming deeply uncomfortable with a number of doctor's offices. Living in NY means coming to terms with the fact that basically no medical professional who owns an office will share my politics and that's *fine* 99% of the time...

But when I walk into a doctor's office now and see that different doctors have taken wildly different mitigation approaches, with some taking basically none at all, I am increasingly concerned with the quality of the rest of their work.

I dropped my GP and have yet to find a new one, not because of the deeply weird conversation we had over his love of Tr*mp, but because I know he consumes a lot of news that actively talks about COVID not being a threat.

If a doctor can't be trusted to take measures around preventing the spread of a disease it makes me wonder how I can trust them to treat me for anything else.

I found a dentist recently w/really great mitigation in place, screens, sanitation, covers, air filtering, etc... and it was such a relief. I hate that the move to endlessly politicize COVID on the right has led to a situation where medical professionals aren't acting logically.

I find it deeply frustrating, stressful, and hate that this is yet another thing that I am apparently required to use my time for in the endless push to put more work on me as a care seeker in the US medical system.

The other stressful hanging question is: does this go away? And I don't mean COVID. Does the right keep politicizing medicine to the point where the alternate realty field turns doctor's offices into a permanent minefield where care is prioritized on politics instead of medicine?

I know that sounds like a crazy extreme situation that could never happen, but it feels like we've been living in a crazy extreme situation for years now. And we don't have to look much further than women's & trans health care to see how this is already happening in some states.
