theleoji I agree that people are emotional, but I think it's easier to try to appeal to empathy, charity and kindness for a radical solution than try to avoid engaging emotional issues by taking a middle path.

theleoji So much rational centrist policy-making fails IMO b/c it tries to ignore the emotional factor of voters & supporters, the right understands how to engage hate to get support. It's hard to see how we can find a solution that doesn't engage empathy. Loan forgiveness is a good ex.

theleoji I feel like a big reason why the tenor of politics has shifted towards hate is because the right uses that emotion but the left tries to avoid engaging emotionally at all and so the Overton window of Political Emotion just shifts slowly towards anger.
