      emilybell I think it is easier to be considered successful as a niche site not because they are more successful in an abstract sense but but generally because their goals for profitability tend to be set lower and they tend to be smaller and t/f more stable organizations...

    emilybell Perhaps the real question isn't will all the digital natives eventually fail but... will all the digital natives who set goals to chase extreme scale fail? I think I feel a lot more comfortable answer that question with a "yes".

      emilybell When I talk through the history of ad tech, one of the things I always try to note is that print was the "hockey stick profitable business" of its era in the 90s and earlier, but that was mostly due to its capacity to capture audiences with local monopolies on ad space.
