      1. I can't stand how every modern Star Trek live action production just can't wait to find some way to write itself out of the Star Trek universe because the writers clearly have no idea how to write Star Trek.

I figured out out. This is Star Trek under capitalist realism. It's the final frontier of "it is easier to imagine an end to the world than an end to capitalism." This generation of writers literally cannot imagine Star Trek's socialist utopia, so they end the world over & over.

Also, if they do one more camera rolls from upside-down position in a random darkly lit starship corridor while red lights flash and the Red Alert goes off (because they did it in JJ Star Trek see and they won't let them do lens flares anymore) I will go insane.

Seriously, the more I think about it, the more clear it is that these constant alternate realities, strange futures and one-off states of exception, even all the way back to the first JJ Abrams Star Trek, is what happens when people who have only known neoliberalism try to do ST.

What is Star Trek when it is written by people who can literally imagine no possible alternative to capitalism? It's what we're getting in live action Trek right now.

'OK bro, pitch time: Yeah what if a previously renewable and basically unlimited resource became scarce and we needed markets or... get this... what if Q just can't afford healthcare? Man my dude we've got a real show now!' *Paramount bros fistbump*

            How incredibly depressing.
