jaypinho aripap Lol, buddy the fact that you don't realize an entire sector of IAS's business exists is a big problem in this discussion. IAS crawlers are often blocked and their in-iframe tech is useless much of the time, so...

jaypinho aripap Brand safety vendors then will often go to buyers, say they can't work on a domain & have buyers pressure publishers to place code like IAS's on the domain, which the publisher is then *forced* to pay monthly for in order to be opened up to bidding by big buyers or buy systems...

jaypinho aripap They have *immense* leverage over publishers which they employ to juice money from both ends of the equation, and sometimes the bid systems in-between too. And,...

jaypinho aripap In case you haven't been paying attention to the news about IAS lately, their system seems often unable to deliver on even brand safety. As brand safety scripts have been blocking normal news sites while failing to block literal Nazis.

jaypinho aripap This isn't about overhauling IP law. This is about a legally contracted provider undercutting the publisher paying their fees, refusing to abide by their contract, and being able to keep their contract because of leverage on the publisher. jaypinho/1502267233011224578?t=I-fSyoyFQ-GK9MEZ5GHe5g&s=19

jaypinho aripap If I pay you to clean my teeth, you shouldn't construct your business in such a way that you make profit selling teeth, b/c then how can I trust your incentives in claiming I have a cavity & you need to pull a tooth? How do I know it isn't a fine tooth & you just want more money?

jaypinho aripap Brand safety vendors have a specific role in the marketplace and specific incentives. Those incentives don't seem to work because no one checks anything, but they are there. Being able to make money selling pages they can also block sales on is a clear conflict of interest.
