        eric_seufert duncanwc I think you fundamentally are misunderstanding what is implied by "surveillance" in this context. Both of the use cases you separated are generally considered included: "the commodification of personal data with the core purpose of profit-making" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surveillance_capitalism

      eric_seufert duncanwc Both behavioral and demographic data are personal data and therefore surveillance advertising would encompass both of them.
