If the Dems spent even a quarter of the time they take to constantly egostroke their current leadership instead cultivating young new candidates they might actually have started to promote future presidential candidates now instead of relighting a torch for H or coalition tickets

It's hard to remember this now, but Obama wasn't the party's choice originally and originally built a movement outside their apparatus. The Democratic Party has not really been able to select good presidential candidates for a *very* long time. And clearly still can't.

The GOP is constantly better at this. You can probably name 5 GOP future primary candidates right now. But who are the Dems prepping, promoting and putting on camera? They're not even really putting resources into promoting our current VP. Frustrating.

I mean part of the reason is because the Republican apparatus is basically non existent now, instead a roving coalition of rich dudes, lobbyists, and special interests pushing randos into the scrum... but surely there has to be an in-between option?
