As the class gap between developers widens, I wouldn't be surprised if this starts happening regularly. High paid people are sitting on the work of low paid people... But, unlike the usual labor division, it's very easy to throw one's self in the gears if you don't get pay.

When workers are overworked, under-compensated, and seeing their work used as the bedrock of the super wealthy it's hard not to think of these developers sympathetically. After years of being told CS degrees made them the upper echelon, they're finding out they're labor after all

A lesson in labor solidarity lies at the heart of these incidents that I'm sure few developers will take to heart. Dealing with the meritocracy lie that infests engineering spaces (and coming to terms with the facts of life as labor) will, ironically, require some deprogramming.

I think the main thing to remember is, like it or not, this is only going to happen more often in the future as the rich get richer & there's ever fewer scraps trickling down to everyone else. Unaddressed extreme inequality eventually leads to angry labor. youtu.be/z5rRZdiu1UE
