Ok so I watched Don't Look Up and there are a lot of smart takes with smart good and bad feedback, etc... but I have to say the biggest issue for me was that the whole thing just felt both self satisfied and in tremendous bad taste.Permalink On twitter.com

It would be mitigated somewhat if I thought it actually was effective messaging but like... is it? Did you get a call to action out of that film? Did you figure out a why to move forward on climate change? Did you get an idea of someone specific to call upon or take to task?Permalink On twitter.com

Like... they don't even have a URL at the end for you to go to some sort of fund-raising site or charity... ? I think I've seen action movies that deal with self-harm at least put the Suicide Hotline in the end credits? The least they could do is I dunno recommend *something*.Permalink On twitter.com

I love how the film implicitly criticizes Millennial capitalist-activism but also... is Boomer capitalist-activism. Though honestly like... I think it might be a stretch to even call it activism. I guess the biggest criticism I had of Don't Look Up really is that it's supposed to be a comedy but it just made me sad. Not like... emotional along with the characters sad... just sad. Sad and tired. Would not recommend.Permalink On twitter.com

About 1/3rd in the scientists are trying to explain to basically GMA hosts that bad shit is happening & a host goes 'we try to make the news lighthearted' and the film paints the anchor as in the wrong... but that's *exactly* what the film is doing and... uhhh I don't understand.Permalink On twitter.com
