ShortFormErnie Yeah, I did the same, landing on Showdown with my last site. But for some reason I decided to stubbornly hit my head against Markdown It until I understood what was going on and yeah, I can understand why projects use it. But the docs (or lack of) don't make it easy!

ShortFormErnie A lot of the code out there in plugins is very unclear, their processing modes are neither well documented, nor clear from the code itself, and a lot of choices are fairly unique to the project and can't be readily understood. BUT they are very responsive, so there's that.

ShortFormErnie Now I'm getting it, it is very easy to see why projects lean towards it. It's very powerful and structured in a way that makes simple tasks hard, but complex tasks easy; and it's very opinionated towards performance. I can't particularly recommend it, but I'm gonna keep using it.
