        robinberjon Yup, same, but while I think many news org explicitly op eds could be rigorous opinion partnered with well formed debate tactics and/or harnessing great original reporting, the majority of op eds are preaching to the choir and more for entertainment value...

      robinberjon I think a Gizmodo/Gawker style vaguely op ed ish approach is of high value as an organizational output, but the elder players' op ed corners feel like T-Rex arms most days: vestigial. And sometimes, on the increasing number of bad days, more like a bursting appendix.

    robinberjon I sorta wish I'd see a return to the days of highly active editorial boards and columns. Speaking as an editorial unit and making that, and the opinions held organizationally, more clear feels of higher value than a dozen op ed sinecures.
