Caught up on the Foundation show and it looks real cool but something feels really wrong in there. I can't even put my finger on it. It's been a long time since I read the books, but did they spend so much focus on the Emperor(s) running the Empire?

Sympathy for the Emperor feels like a real weird angle to play here too, especially for the sort of story they presumably want to tell. This last episode had a line about the fall of the space elevator freeing The People and... I dunno, what is going on here?

There's also some weird stuff where I remember the books at the core of Foundation could hand wave a lot but the TV show visualizing it in this way and at this pace seems to make the hand waves less effective and it's screwing with my suspension of disbelief.

I know that the 1st Foundation novel especially could feel more like a Wikipedia category than a story, but I'm surprised that, for what feels like a lot of changes, the TV show feels like it's half way between that and Dune. Great acting all around though, keeps pulling me back
