  1. There is a particular thing about live action remakes that attempt to precisely recreate original animated works, and it sort of feels like disrespect. Why remake exactly something that already exists if it isn't because you believe the original form wasn't sufficient?

      This is particularly ironic because, as we've seen again and again, no live action remake ever manages to recapture the energy, creativity or uniquely animated qualities of the original. It ends up arguing: even if you want to use this property, why not make something new?

        There is... as far as I can tell... only one exception and that is Speed Racer, and it's mostly because it does indeed do a bunch of interesting original stuff in the CGI space and generally it turned out that it wasn't even what audiences wanted. youtu.be/3FtBAGMSw-I
