    Individuals can put together a non-profit that can solicit money and donated satellite time to run what is fundamentally a state-level surveillance program of an entire other country. Good or bad as a project, when I saw this post for the first time that is where my brain went.

      The fact that "we only saw $700K from Clooney" sort of makes this story even more wild. Real time satellite surveillance of an entire other nation comes fairly cheap.
