"Friends" who have the privilege to pretend politics is just a fun debating game where what you say doesn't matter, as opposed to the life-threatening reality it is for many, and then don't listen when you tell them that politics isn't a thing you can just ignore, aren't friends.

This is the defining bullshit of our generation of politics: the endless white dudes who don't understand that there are many many people for whom politics isn't a game, but life and death, and it is both offensive and dangerous when they pretend otherwise.

There's a particular irony of these types of dudes always being so obsessed with what people are "allowed" to say on college campuses because for them the whole world is just an endless college campus dorm room debate from which they have never grown up.

Let's have a fun debate about the legitimacy of your existence is the most cynical bullshit anyone can come up with but here we go with an endless parade of bullshit artists making six figures a month doing exactly that over and over via email newsletters. It's infuriating.
