1. Never assume you're right about engineering things. 2. Never assume everyone else is right. All of the most fun I've had with code is digging into established "this is they way we do things", finding new ways to break things, and then issuing PRs to fix them.

About half of the time, the real problem is that I indeed missed something... but I at least missed it in an interesting and useful way.
