    1. By making the doxing illegal and not the following harassment I worry that this closes the door on some of the great work being done doxing N*zis and making our communities safer as a result.     Like most things, Doxing is not a universal good or bad, & I don't think every doxing is the same, even if it reveals the same exact information. Even a doxing that gets a N*zi fired vs one that gets a journalist fired has clear differences even if literal actions are the same.

      A while back I wrote out some rules for doxing as an ethical exercise and thought that the same exact actions could have wildly different contexts and results, making it a difficult thing to legislate. startedwithatweet.substack.com/p/doxing-for-great-justice

        I'm not saying the law is necessarily wrong (or right for that matter) but that this is an unusually shallow treatment of a much more complex topic by themarkup and I'd love to see a deeper exploration of the subject.
