      1. I think it is sort of wild that I'm a 30something millennial and at this point I'm pretty sure that something like 80% (or more) of people I thought of as professional peers have burnt out and as a result altered their career paths in some way.

I came about *this* close to burning out (many years ago), indeed who knows might have, & that's why I don't work editorial anymore. Was lucky to find a place in the media ecosystem, which I'm passionate about, that I enjoyed & fit well into on the commercial side.

Seeing COVID basically accelerate this is sorta scary because... jeez who thought it could get worse? Also like... who is left... basically the Millennial generation is just *emptying* out of FT positions in some major industries with the Boomers staying at top and Z coming up.

Gen X is sorta slowly worming in here & there, but it is wild that my graduating class that I came up with... almost none of them are still in the industry anymore. People who I really was looking forward to working with (sometimes again) are off doing entirely other careers...

It def doesn't feel normal right? Like I don't think this is the way this is supposed to work? I don't think this is the way it used to work... right?

And I hear the same stuff from people in other industries as well. Really smart, expert, peers just burning out and falling off the professional map. It's good that people take the steps to keep themselves as healthy as possible, but it shouldn't have to work this way... right?
