        pilhofer davewiner To be clear, I don't think activity within Facebook is all bad. I just think that at the scale it currently operates we're just replacing one oligarchy with another. The problem is the centralized systems at massive scale, and those exist within media conglomerates as well.

      pilhofer davewiner And I don't think the good things that people are doing with / get out of Facebook require Facebook as it currently exists to continue.

    pilhofer davewiner I mean, quintessential example of bad media is many pubs' Iraq War reporting and that happened before the social media incentives that are causing issues now were put into place. That's sort of my point, the Facebook problem isn't Facebook... it's social, governmental, & economic
