        moorehn joshsternberg I think core issue is not if it is useful for individuals to get them, but that institutions have begun to expect them. If I wanted to enter journalism from 0 today & I didn't live in NYC/had money to participate in a low-paying internship, I'd prob think an MA was a good idea.

      moorehn joshsternberg Like IMO, for most of the people going through MA programs the usefulness of these programs long-term starts and ends with the degree's line on the resume.

    moorehn joshsternberg The mistake in a lot of these analyses, I think, is that it looks at it (like we often do with debt issues) as a fault of the individual who got the degree. But the reality is the market is *asking* for these degrees and that is where the issue needs to be addressed.
