    1. Outside of being shitty to women, his public positions on these topics implies extremely troubling things about the level of privacy & use of user data being planned for Apple's ad products. The only highly relevant privacy position he has is not giving a crap about it.

    Also, it's bs Apple execs/HR almost def read the book, likely thought it was a hilarious joke & they could hire him w/o any blowback on that front. I don't feel bad for him, but for employees who work in an environment where lower profile shitty mysogyny is apparently acceptable.

      Apple markets itself specifically around respect for user privacy and a liberal position on social issues. It should not be shocked when both employees and consumers expect it to act with a higher standard on both topics and speak out when they don't...

        As privacy marketing--where companies trumpet their respect for user privacy--becomes more common, those companies deserve higher levels of scrutiny. They can't talk the talk without doing the real work. Same with SV's 'save the world' marketing now actively being challenged.

          We'll see what's next for Apple's ad products, but it should expect that it will not be given a pass just because they've *said* the right things.
