      alextcone Self-attestation of trustworthiness has been a regular thing for many of these ad tech companies in the past, but they have not proven trustworthy and our ecosystem is being disrupted directly due to their inability to reign in their appetites for user data...

        alextcone After spending years seeing ad tech companies lie, bullshit, malfunction and cover it up, and promise literally impossible things, I don't feel great about the main security measure being them promising they won't abuse their access or run a hash table.

          alextcone It has even been reported that ad tech companies discard and ignore consent strings. With those as the base table stakes on some of these proposals... hard to see trusting them as part of the solution.
