moorehn Some writers have put Metropolis down as more of a SF analog (though DC also has a dedicated SF analog in "Coast City"). On the other hand the recent DC films have heavily implied that Gotham is Newark-ish and Metropolis is NYC (and Jersey City doesn't exist apparently).

moorehn I mean the real answer is that DC's writers were all life-long NYCers who didn't really understand the geography or distances of NJ or anywhere else in the US for that matter. DC's universe is very... northeast clustered for that reason >.<
