benjmay outlandishjosh I mean part of the advantage of WordPress is how it makes it easy for publishers to pick up a bunch of individual pieces & plug them together and just go. There are, of course, obvious optimizations that would put the problem aside. And entirely different ways to manage frontend!

benjmay outlandishjosh But if it is a big issue (dunno if it is, I don't know for myself!) then perhaps part of the promise of WordPress in making these things easy to handle and sites easy to stand up is making more optimizations automatic. I don't know if it should be a priority, but a nice to have.

benjmay outlandishjosh I am entirely familiar with the difficulty of walking the line between ease of customization and quality of experience both for users and site visitors. CWV poses new requirements... are they fair? I can argue both ways. But it doesn't matter b/c there they are.
