cwarzel I really liked this piece, though it isn't at all the only reaction to have. I think that at some point the idea that any of this should have an impact on individual behavior is robbing your mental and time capacity to attack the problem at a systematic level.

cwarzel At some point you have to realize that time spent not owning an iPhone or composting your own waste is time not spent doing things that could make an actual impact, attacking the systematic issues, running for office, whatever.

cwarzel Ever since covering economics back in 2007 I came to the realization these problems are ensconced in huge systems & are incentivized to continue by the nature of capitalism. Unless you can figure out how to live w/o capitalism, there's really no way out of humanity's death spiral

cwarzel No individual act is going to push that forward. It's just not the way it is going to work. So, the best thing to do is find a focus, see where you can make things better from inside the system, push forward, and amplify the people who are doing the same in their sectors.

cwarzel Personally, in my opinion, the best I can do is work towards strengthening the health of the systems that transmit the truth, keep those systems accountable as is within my capability to do so, and thus it pushes the boat forward and up in some small way.

cwarzel We're more doomed right now than not, all any single person can do is push the needle away from metaphorical midnight and accept that they are more likely to fail than succeed and not torture themselves with something that is entirely out of their hands.
